Citing eyewitnesses, Reuters news agency said at least one person was killed in the shooting in Mandalay on Friday. According to media reports, the man was shot in the neck and died.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United Nations said 36 people had been killed in clashes between police and soldiers.
More than 50 people have already been killed in protests in the Southeast Asian country since the February coup. Ignoring this repression, the anti-coup movement continues in the country.
International pressure is also mounting on Myanmar’s military junta; Security Council member states are preparing to discuss the crisis there.
The shots were fired at protesters in Mandalay on Friday, shortly after the military junta failed to establish its authority in the UN mission in Myanmar and new US sanctions.
Opposition groups called for a boycott of the military in various parts of Myanmar and for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other politicians.
